Well I have begun to rain query letters down upon the
agenting world. In the most thoughtful, conscientious, and
professional of manners of course. . . But, alas, to no
avail. The new year is still relatively new, however, so I
refuse to despair (about the queries, anyway).
I am starting to despair about Japan. Not the
country, of course. Everything I have learned thus far has
illuminated a brilliant and sensitive culture with a rich
history. Unfortunately, I am not as far along in my
research as I would like to be. It's been a while since I've
stepped out of my Classical comfort zone, and I've
forgotten what it's like to start from scratch. It turns out
that it is a very very scary place. I think I would cheer up if
I could just figure out what the bathroom situation was like
for the average Japanese household in Edo in the year
1854. Does anyone know?
